Namely, to meet the ever-increasing demand for streaming content, creators on this side of the pond are borrowing entire shows from abroad. This year, 2024, France was the source of two major N.A. releases, namely High Potential (a clone of the hit French series known as "HPI") and now, with THE AGENCY 2024, a clone of Le Bureau Des Legends (one of the most popular French TV shows of all time, which aired from 2015 to 2020).
Cloning and repatriation do not always guarantee an exact replica
For example, many critics consider HPI’s new Western release, High Potential, to be a genuine improvement over the original. Based on the first episode of Agency, the reviewer believes the series should at least live up to its iconic foreign counterpart. The writing is sharp, and Fassbender—another A-list movie star making the transition to the small screen—rarely disappoints.
I recommend it
We take for granted that major plot points will be changed to accommodate the ever-changing political landscape. But so far, so good.
