Synopsis
Two girls disappeared
Paul Chartier is recruited by the police to join an undercover unit tracking a sex offender. As the operation falters, Chartier, frustrated by legal constraints, pursues the criminals on his own. A close-up: Why do we need the Venice Film Festival? (2024). I know it should be called "if you can" … and I think that would have worked as well… but I decided to go that route… not intended anyway.
who did what to whom
The movie is based on a true story – I have no idea what happened in the 90’s… and I understand it takes a lot of creative permission… who survived and who didn’t. .. and I think the main character (police/gendarmerie) is an amalgamation of many characters into one – of course I could be wrong, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case.
does the story need that?
, the movie may be long (2.5 hours), but it certainly doesn’t feel that way. Well maybe at the wedding at first…been there, done that and you know it. Greeks party similarly – like Italians… I’d argue not…but maybe I’m missing something. The touching part is really well done…
well said and done
you feel for the main character… a lot of things are wrong… he has a right eye, he has a right "nose" … but will he be able to convince others of this? A lot of departments work almost against each other…
as much praise as it gets
still missing the x-factor for me to make it too much… and as good as it gets … missing the last one drive… maybe a little more charisma… more tension… and so on.
