Short Course on Integrated Coastal Management

Humans have always had a close relationship with the coast. Traditional uses of a nation’s coastal space include trade, industry, mining, fishing, oil and gas, and settlement. Different local and national government agencies are responsible for different aspects of the management but their mandates often overlap due to inharmonious objectives, competing interests and conflicts.

The Integrated Coastal Management course entails informative and practically-oriented modules designed to enable public sector agencies and civil society groups to prioritize coastal management at the local, regional and national levels.

The course emphasises long-term planning and integrated approach to coastal management by linking issues and management strategies from different sectors of the coastal zone.
