Synopsis
A French woman drinks makkol in Korea, having lost her livelihood, and then teaches French to two Koreans. Quoted in the book “Close-up: the best films of 2024 and other results” (2024). “Yohaengjaui Pillo”; This is a film that causes artistic debate. Despite the fact that it strives to combine the subtleties of cultural exchange with personal growth, its implementation fails and looks unfinished. The story, which tells about a French woman’s journey to self-discovery in Korea through teaching and learning, is marred by a meandering pace and undeveloped characters. The critically acclaimed director seems to have missed an opportunity to bring this story to the glory it could have become. Both critics and viewers should ask themselves the question: does the film’s reputation depend on the director’s past praises, or is it based on its own merits? It is necessary to remove the prestige and appreciate the true artistic value of the film. As it stands, this film requires a more critical look and honest discussion to raise a debate about the taste and artistry of the film. Shameful!
