Gender And Traditional Authority In The Artisanal Marine Fishing Industry In Ghana
Studies on the fishing industry lay emphasis on the economic aspect of the industry with constant reference to the technical and entrepreneurial skills of Ghanaian men and women who have developed the industry, not only in their own country but have spread their skills to other West African countries. These skills developed within an organisational structure, which provided necessary conditions for the growth of the industry. It is the purpose of this paper to focus on the traditional organisational structure with special emphasis on the role of gender in traditional authority.
